EARL DE LA ROSE is a professional equestrian activity centre, registered with the Federation Francais d'Equitation (F.F.E). Carole Artur-Jackson, British owner of the centre qualified in France as an equestrian guide (A.T.E, Int., 2001).
We offer treks during the holidays for tourists - open all year
The centre is approved to undertake horse and pony trekking and equestrian activities for adults and children, beginner riders and experienced riders. Offers holiday hacks and 1/2 or full day treks and activity mornings for children as well as picnics at Utah beach with the ponies for under 12's. The centre is open all year round - and offers monthly or term tickets for children and adults in the area. Office day Monday - limited riding to owners only. Our brand new covered arena and stables will be under construction during the summer of 2010 and we plan to open on 1st October 2010 (if not before!). When we will be able to offer stabled liveries.

If you live in the area - reductions for club activity and Endurance races, TREC, Amateur Showjumping and riding competitions. We cater for the amateur leisure rider.
Examples:
Term = 1 session per week 180 euro, per term - 12-18yrs
Term = 1 session per week 120 euro, per term - under 12's Monthly = 2 sessions per week 120 euro - adults -endurance race riding Monthly = 1 session per week 80 euro - adults - endurance race riding
Full club membership with up to 3 sessions per week Endurance training + 300 euro per month includes 6 competitions per year. Own horse 360 euro per term - races 1 euro per km - crew 10 euro
Adopt a horse for Endurance or for fun and provide everything for your horse, we pay and provide his keep for hacking out, you buy all the extras and pay for topping up his feed if you want to ride in competition - you bring your own saddle etc. only 120 euro per month - you get to ride more or less when you like for 3+ sessions a week and we can also use horse for club activities.
Holiday or passing by:- 1hr-25 euro - adults & 15+; private hacks accompanied rides 50 euro per hr; 18 euro - children (under 12 on riding ponies). Half price in April 2010 to all neighbours living in Normandy - (proof of address)
We can help you find the perfect leisure horse, Selle Francais, arab horses. Will transport to UK or Jersey.
We offer holidays for individuals, adult groups and families (4-6 people is ideal). Adults can choose weekend breaks, 2 to 5 day trek.
TREKKING

TREKKING WEEKEND BREAKS
Take 2/3 days out during the working week, or join us for the weekend. Arrive with car from the ferry ports (Cherbour 1/2 hr; Caen 1 hr 15 mins; Barneville Carteret from Jersey 1/2 hr). We can pick up from Carteret or Cherbourg. You can also travel by Eurostar from London to Paris/Carenten, (www.sncf.fr) we can pick you up from the station, 20 mins away. Spend two days riding - in the lovely Cotentin area woods and rivers around our beautiful countryside, or choose TREC training for a day.
Beginners/intermediate welcome. Come with friends and have a great weekend, home cooked meals at the local B&B's or choose self-cater accommodation in and around Picauville! Price guide: 2 days riding = £150, 3 days riding = £200. Low season specials.
5 DAY TREKKING HOLIDAYS/bank holiday/weekend treks
If you choose a longer break your holiday can consist of a number of full day horse activities and treks at the farm base, or we can organise a horse trekking holiday starting at the farm and following a different trail each day. For instance horse riding towards the Bay of Mont St. Michel, and crossing the bay, staying in different accommodation each night. Your luggage is transferred to each location for you. Or, back to the farm each night. We can also arrange holidays at any location in France, for instance the 'Suisse Normande' with our own horses, or further a field, using horses and ponies of the local area, e.g. the Camargue.
We have a range of horses and ponies specifically trained for trekking and able to undertake skills in manoeuvrability you can see some of them featured in the photos. We train for TREC competitions, popular in France and introduced to Britain in 1998.
We also undertake Endurance Competitions and offer courses/ take a holiday to learn more and join us at a competition as a groom or take part.
We are happy to hear from individuals, groups, associations, clubs and from families and individuals looking for treks or a holiday based at the farm. We help you design your holiday with your budget in mind.
Specialist combined language and riding camp holidays are offered to young adults age 16+ in June for a duration of one week, based at the farm. £450. (Minimum 2 booking.)
We are fully fluent in both English and French. Your hosts: Carole is English and Jean-Paul is French.
About EARL DE LA ROSE
EARL DE LA ROSE is the name of our centre an approved Equestrian Activity Centre for tourism situated in the Cotentin - 1/2 hr South of Cherbourg, Normandy, France. The centre is situated on a working dairy farm estate which Carole's husband, Jean-Paul runs.
There are acres of farm land and woodlands to ride and walk discovering the very pretty bocage of Normandy and its' pretty villages and marshlands.
Carole Artur Jackson, the owner of the trekking centre, is English but french qualified, holding the Diploma, Accompagnateur Tourisme Equestre, International (A.T.E., 2001). Carole is qualified to run the centre, undertake horse treks and organise horse trekking holidays anywhere in France and invites you to join her for T.R.E.C. training and Endurance courses and competitions.
Join us on a horse trekking holiday and ride on miles of white sandy beaches at Utah Beach or around the farm site in the marshlands. Beginners may join Carole for special half day courses at the farm ask for more details of courses and holidays.

Equestrian Activities
We offer TREC training which consists of orientation on horseback with time controls and a combination of cross-country jumping and manoeuvrability skills. Full day - 50 euro. (Can be taken as 2 X 1/2 days.)
We also offer Endurance Riding and courses which is riding at speed, 10-15km per hour, trotting and cantering, so a good level of riding is required and lots of stamina. The shortest are 10km, but we usually start you off at 20km which means riding for 1hr 40 mins. Most people who ride at least once a week and manage this! Course - 50 euro per day.
Join us on an Endurance weekend as a groom or compete with us. We will handle your licence and entry on one of our horses. If you live nearby, bring your own horse.
Handling the natural way
For families try our new course working on the ground with horses. For parents of riders who want some more confidence around horses and ponies or just for fun whilst on holiday. Handlers and riders one day course the natural way, all the family welcome, if you love horses come along. No riding involved. 1/2 day. 50 euro. Picnic included.
